Chapter One: God or No God

For almost a year now I have dedicated myself to getting up at stupid o’clock on a Sunday morning to go and worship our lord Jesus Christ. I am in no way religious, I am too much of a science geek to even try and believe that there is something else out there. For me, when you go, you go; no heaven or hell just nothing.

I do it however; because, one I’m a dedicated member of the Salvation Army and its kid of mandatory but also because I am fascinated with the idea of god, you don’t have to be a believer to respect how devoted people can be to someone who may or may not exist, I can’t say that he doesn’t, I just don’t believe that he does.

But for people who do, I have nothing to say on the matter because I think it’s great that people have someone to turn to when they are down and that the idea of heaven and god’s welcoming embrace eases the fear of death.

Jesus Christ may have been a real person who looked at the people around him and wanted to do one good deed and he did that by giving man something to believe in and someone to trust when it feels like you can do nothing else, if that’s the case then I hold my hands up to him.

I don’t believe in god, but I wish that I had the capability to.
